It’s our first of many competitions here on TheMovies and I couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off other than by supporting an awesome looking movie, Chronicle, and giving you all a chance to go and see it for free thanks to our new found friends at Nu Metro.
Nu Metro have kindly given us 4 double tickets to give away this week and the way we’re going to do it is pretty simple, all you need to do is watch this trailer for the movie Chronicle and then let us know is the comments either what you would do with the super powers of the kids if you had them or otherwise what super powers do you wish you had?
You receive one entry into the competition for every valid comment made so if you have 5 ideas put them in 5 comments.
That’s it, the draw will be done on Friday so good luck and keep checking back for tons of new movie news and trailers every day.
Oh and while you’re here how about following us on Twitter and liking us on Facebook and once again a big thanks to Nu Metro for stepping up to the plate so please follow them on twitter as well.
The double tickets can be used to see any Nu Metro movie so even if Chronicle’s not your thing there is no reason not to enter anyway. Competition only open to residents of the fantastic Republic of South Africa

I think super powers are only slightly useful if there is a super villain to fight against… If I could choose a super power, it would either be invisibility or Telekinesis.

Mass Mind control. Yes…I’m drumming my fingers together as we speak. Yesssss…Yeeeeeeeesssssss!

I know its the norm, but I would choose Super Man’s powers. Massive potential with those large range of powers, for good or evil.

Would love the ability of Jedi knights, to influence the thoughts of people with a hand wave….

..or to stop time!!!

February 6, 2012 at 09:25
If I could choose a power… it would be that of Terrence Ward (Trauma). Shape-shifting into a person’s worst fear to help them overcome said fear. Lame perhaps, but must be the psychologist in me.
Powers do double up as offensive also. Win-win!

If I had those super powers I’d part the traffic like Moses parted the Red Sea, and occasionally High Five people in the face with a floating chair.

February 6, 2012 at 09:47
I’d choose flight + invisibility + a forcefield to protect my face from pigeons.

If I had to choose, an interesting power would be to control H20 in it’s liquid form, allowing you to rapidly accelerate any water in your enemies body, since we’re about 80% water you pretty much be overpowered. Also help fight dirty water coming out of my tap, INSTANT WATER DISTILLATION! possibilities are endless.

hmmm tough choice there….. too many to choose from.

February 6, 2012 at 10:13
I would like to have invisibility. Let me think about that… what would I not do with invisibility?
Robin Hood
February 6, 2012 at 10:17
I want to be invisible, go to the banks and steel money and give it to the Poor – Like a modern Robin Hood. Also, I want to have the ability make people smarter and give lessons to the world leaders, so that they can act like leaders and become heroes to their own people. Then everybody will be happy.

Teleportation. Imagine this: you’ve woken up way past your alarm clock and you’ve already gotten a couple of warnings from your boss for being late. Well, with teleportation, there’s no need to fret. All you have to do is get yourself dressed and transport your whole body over from your room to your office. Case closed. Suck it, boss. Bored on a Saturday afternoon? Why not check out the beaches in Australia for a few hours before you need to be home in time for dinner? The possibilities are really endless. The best part is that traveling no longer has to be a long endeavor which sometimes forces interaction with really annoying people. Teleportation could make that happen.

Would you seriously still have a boss if you could teleport anyware you want?

A super-mind that can figure out how to do any other super ability there is..

February 6, 2012 at 11:34
I’d go with x-ray vision and super speed.
Super sports-star gambling playboy billionaire man. (My superhero name needs work)
Ustin
February 6, 2012 at 11:37
Imagine Supermans Powers with Hulks ability to just become stronger and the Invisibility. I will be able to run around in my Birthday Suit. LOL

February 6, 2012 at 11:38
The power to teleport. For obvious reasons. Go on holiday everyday. Rescue people without anyone knowing. Make it in time for dinner
Aequitas
February 6, 2012 at 11:38
Invisibility and superhuman reflexes … I would be the *best* Ninja

The power of sarcasm.

February 6, 2012 at 13:54
The movie looks awesome, definitely a twist on the superhero movie… maybe a bit like x-men first class, but without Magneto’s ‘anti-hero’ character, this kid in Chronicle looks genuinely bad-ass.
Also, if I had powers, it would be that of Dr Manhattan. The blue dude from the Watchmen movie and graph. novels. Not even Superman can compete with the Doc.
Christo Kruger
February 6, 2012 at 13:56
Oh, time travel would probably the best power. Because you can mess up a thousand times and always be able to fix it.
Or, you know, make WP win the Currie Cup again.
Greg
February 6, 2012 at 15:36
I’d have the power to win Nu Metro movie tickets
jay
February 6, 2012 at 16:37
The power to control and manipulate any electronic device…
Treble
February 6, 2012 at 16:49
My power would have to be mind control easy enough
Tracy Benson
February 6, 2012 at 17:01
I’ve always wanted to have the ability to phase through solid objects like Kitty Pride, I’d never have to worry about locking myself out the house again plus Kitty’s my hero.
Tracy Benson
February 6, 2012 at 17:01
Failing that, the second strongest superpower out there: money (a la Batman/Iron Man)
Tracy Benson
February 6, 2012 at 17:01
Or, I’d take the strongest super power known to the universe: The Power of Plot. Example:
“Oh my, a bank robbery / kidnapping / nefarious deed is in progress!”
“Hang on ma’am, I’ve got it covered”
later …
“Problem solved!”
“But how did you manage that?”
“Oh, no don’t worry about it, I took care of it in the panel that said ‘later…’
Tracy Benson

Oooh can’t forget, the power to blow stuff up with my mind (sciencey answer: controlling the rapid expansion / friction of air molecules etc. otherwise known as BOOOM!)
V@mp
February 6, 2012 at 18:23
Shapeshifting would be cool. And if I can receive the person or thing’s power that I’m shifting into –
Bonus! That would cover all bases as I could basically just shift into any other superhero 😛

February 6, 2012 at 22:56
Id love the power to read peoples thoughts… imagine…
Anonymous
February 6, 2012 at 22:57
then again perhaps the power to teleport yourself, like in jumper
Anonymous
February 6, 2012 at 22:58
or the Star wars force power to pick things up with your mind, think its telekinesis
Evil Dr Twisted
February 7, 2012 at 12:30
I’d like to have the ability to do small time jumps. For example, whilst chatting to a lady and I screw things up, jump backwards and try a different approach.
Don’t win this comp? No problem, jump back and try one of my other ideas 😛
It’s like having a quicksave for life so that you can try multiple options…

I really wish that I had the power to “undo” certain things.
Like regretting doing things a split second after doing them! I wish you could just go and hit the undo button and start again!

February 8, 2012 at 16:23
Would be cool to have the stretchy ability of Mister Fantastic (Fantastic Four). Just imagine the possibilities:
1. Sitting at your pc, you’re hungry/thirsty, but lazy, so you just stretch your arm into the kitchen and grab summin’!
2. Same as above, but you need to pee (lol, if you catch my drift)
3. Technically you can’t die from brute force, as your body will just shape to accomodate the object
4. You can become a human paracute
5. If you play cricket, you can catch a guy out that would have hit a 6 into the stands
6. Want to bungee-jump? No problem, kust tie your foot to a bridge
lol.

The power to make items into gold…
Jonathan van de Wouw
February 10, 2012 at 09:23
If I had telekinetic abilities like the kids in Chronicle, I’d be a taxi-clearing force on Jhb roads in the morning, oh the fun. Problem is these kids get nosebleeds from their powers so I’d probably die of massive blood-loss on my very first morning. Either that or I’d be “that superhero with toilet paper plugs in his nose” 🙂
Nhovha
February 10, 2012 at 09:31
The ability to spawn bacon
Bridgette Graham
February 10, 2012 at 09:32

Time control would be awesome as well.

February 10, 2012 at 11:38
I want Sylar’s power from Heroes. Only without the need to rip someone’s skull open and eat their brains.
And no I don’t want it to be like Peter’s power where he absorbs it and then he loses the ability when he absorbs a new one.
I just want to be able to absorb someone else’s power and keep it forever muahahahaaha
Barry Ferreira
February 10, 2012 at 11:51
Would it be too cliche to want Wolverine’s powers? Perhaps…
How about the ability to solo like Dave Mustaine…? That is truly superhuman!
Raveburger
February 10, 2012 at 13:10
Superspeed would be aces! Screw the BRT!
Flameboy
February 10, 2012 at 14:21
Reality warping powers. So that I could do anything that my mind desire. Including wishing all these comments out of existence.
Anonymous
February 10, 2012 at 15:05
My super power would be manipulation of matter… for anyone who doesnt know what that means, it means id be able to create anything from anything… for example, changing my Yaris into a lamborghini Murcielago LP-560, or changing the physical make-up of my body to incorporate wings or any other addition i may deem… “necessary” 😉

I’d have to say that a hybrid of powers between Spider-Man and Wolverine would be pretty sick 😀 sling from your hands from building to building, impale people on your way down :O

February 10, 2012 at 23:31

I would use my super powers to catch rhino poachers in their tracks and wrap them in a web until they feel the pain
