So what did Bane sound like originally in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?

Lst year, audiences got a taste of The Dark Knight Rises’ opening scene, which happened to star the big guy himself, Bane. And visually, it looked pretty damn good. On the audio level however, no one could understand a damn thing that Bane was saying apparently.

And seeing as how South Africa isn’t even afforded the privilege of having a LieMax theatre, we missed out on those garblings, being unable to judge for ourselves whether Bane was unintelligible or not. Until now that is.

There’s some spoilers ahead, so consider yourself warned.

The opening scene, which had Bane take over a federal plane and kidnap Doctor Pavel, a man instrumental in his quest to reduce Gotham to ashes with an eco-friendly nuke, was the one originally shown in Imax cinemas.

But audiences complained that it was almost impossible to understand Bane, which led to director Christopher Nolan tweaking the audio on Tom Hardys’ character. Whcih you can hear for yourself, courtesy of Daily Motion.

Honestly? I’d say that the original Bane dialogue is around 50%-60% understood, while the tweaked audio rockets that up to around 80%-90%. What do you think though? Was the original voice better, or was it a good move to tweak it after all?

  1. It doesn’t matter either way I still couldn’t here a damn thing. All I could here Bane say was Let the game begin and I’m not even 100% sure of that.
