Cause some chaos with this first trailer for RED DAWN

If there’s one 80’s remake I’m strangely excited for, it’s Red Dawn. I’ve never seen the original (I know, I know) so my excitement isn’t born out of nostalgia, but rather I’ve always been a fan of these “America got invaded” stories. And while a couple of big video games have been based on this premise recently, for the life of me I can’t remember this being done in film in the last few decades, except in the original.

Also, unless Marvel and Fox come to an unlikely deal sometime soon, this is the only movie where you’re going to hear Thor talk about Wolverines.

It may just have been an unfortunate side effect of MGM’s financial woes, but having this film sitting on the shelf for the last 3 years may actually have helped it. Stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson are way more recognizable now thanks to the successes in other franchises or TV series. Whereas previously, it would just have been a remake by a first time director starring some pretty boy/girl actors, now it actually has the star power to draw a bigger crowd.

Synopsis:

In the remake of the cult classic from 1984, an American city awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

  1. I have fond memories of the first one, I think it is because it wasn’t the Rambo/Braddock take on all comers and win by tea time. It seemed more realistic and gritty. I was just a kid at the time so it was a very like what would i do if it happened to me, here. It may just be nostalgia but I think the first movie was really good, and I am very worried that they are gonna stuff it up. I think there was no remake because esentially the yanks just get their butts kicked.
