Harrison Ford is 'open' to a Star Wars return

Let’s all be honest here; Han Solo is the coolest character in the Star Wars universe. In a galaxy populated with sad religions that disapprove of any lapses in faith, bounty hunters who somehow find themselves swallowed by massive desert genitalia and politicians who happen to be more juiced and evil than Eskom, Han Solo was the one person that every kid wanted to be when they grew up. Harrison Ford made that role something special, and it looks like he may be keen to do a Kessel run in the near future once again.

According to a source at Entertainment Weekly, Ford is more than just “open to the idea” of returning. He’s actually “upbeat about it”. While Ford is still being cautious though, saying that he won’t commit until he sees a script and a director.

Ford has been noticeably absent ever since the third Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi wrapped up back in 1983. With a career that actually took off, Ford stayed away from conventions and never spoke at length about his time on the trilogy, but that stance has softened in recent years. He returned to Indiana Jones in 2008, but the less said about that, the better, and he’s got a role in the upcoming big budget sci fi Ender’s Game next year.

I’m all for seeing Ford return. The man may be pushing 70, but like most celebrities, he’s pretty spry for his age still, and a new found enthusiasm could help expand on the journey that the loveable rogue takes after the Empire has fallen.

Plus maybe this time, we could see who shot first. Although in his case, I’d reckon it’d be a premature shot for Ford. What do you think? Keep on trucking with Ford, or bring some new blood in?

I can live with that. It’s a tad shameless, but so is Star Wars these days.
