MAN OF STEEL will release in 3D and IMAX

Faster than a speeding gimmick! More powerful than a speeding train of thought against it! Able to leap tall box office figures in a single bound! It’s the 3D effect!

Man of Steel marks a return to the cinemas for the iconic superhero, as Superman prepares to fly right into your face. Big budget, big expectations and a dedicated fan base of viewers across all age groups. You don’t need X Ray vision to see why Warner Bros is going to 3D the hell out of this film.

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures issued a statement yesterday that Man of Steel would be released in 3d (Boo!), as well as in good ol’ 2D on IMAX screens (Yay if you live near one!).

Of course, some of you will be concerned with this news, because director Zack Snyder didn’t exactly shoot the film in 3D, meaning that some post-conversion is going to be on the table for the last son of Krypton. While a proper job will still make the effect worthwhile, it’s not exactly going to be at the same standard that natively shot in 3D films, such as Step Up and The Amazing Spider-Man, were.

Still, Snyder is claiming that he shot the movie with 3D in mind, as he was“Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow Man of Steel to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience,” he wrote. “We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.”

Embrace? That’s the wrong word there buddy. I think the line that you were looking for is “force-fed a gimmick with no other alternatives”. I’m still looking forward to the film, but 3D happens to be my version of kryptonite.

Man of Steel is out next year June, and stars Henry Cavill as Superman.

God, I hope Henry Cavill’s acting is better in Man of Steel than it was in Immortals. A lot of his lines in Immortals made me cringe. :/

Yeah, this is my biggest fear too. He was adequate at best in Immortals.
