Find out which witch is which in this second trailer for OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Damn, marketing people over at Disney. You really are making sure that we don’t forget about Oz the Great and Powerful. This week has already seen the release of several images, three posters (which came together like some kind of artsy Voltron) and now we’re getting a second trailer to director Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel, which fills in plenty of the blanks in the plot.

So click your mouse buttons together three times, wish you anywhere else but home and check it out.

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Wait, so after all the internet guesswork and theories it turns out that none of the three witches – Mila Kunis’ Theodora, Rachel Weisz’ Evanora and Michelle Williams’ Cinda – are actually the Wicked Witch of the West? Or is all of this just a ruse and in the end one of the three (my money is on the rather naughty looking Weisz) is going to pull off a Scooby Doo unmasking to reveal the classic hooked green nose?

Whomever does end with the nose, it doesn’t change the fact that Raimi has created a stunning, almost painted world for this.. And while it looks to be pretty fun, let’s just hope that that the rest of the film matches the visuals.

PS: Anybody else creeped out by the Bride of Chucky-lite?

That won’t be a hard one to beat. Let’s hope it’s better than Alice In Wonderland! I’m so happy Burton isn’t directing this…

What is up with Burton lately? His movies are not as strong as they used to be.

Dark Shadows was fun until the final overblown act, and Frankenweenie was all-round great… so it’s not all bad.

Yes, I agree, but both movies, in my opinion, are forgettable.

I didn’t like Dark Shadows. It lacked the Burton/Depp spark. And he tends to rest on his laurels too heavily. It was all too clear with Sweeny Todd and Alice, but you could already see it in Chocolate Factory.

Frankenweenie doesn’t really count, since it is technically a remake of the first thing he ever made. If he stuck close to the original premise, it was inevitable that some of his old magic would come along for the ride. That is the sad thing about Burton: we all know he’s brilliant. But he’s gotten lazy.

My money’s on Kunis to become the Wicked Witch. Seems like it’s not a particularly well-kept secret.

Everybody seems to think it’s Kunis, which leads me to believe they’re pulling the old switcheroo.
