Can you believe it? Since 1927, the film industry has been getting into a frenzy about securing a little gold naked man for their picture. The Oscars have been dealing out those prestigious awards unless you’re Ben Affleck, for many years now. 85 of those awards, have gone to the movies deemed to be the best of the year.

Time to celebrate that achievement in Tinsel Town…with art!

Artist Olly Moss had a mammoth task ahead of him, designing an Oscar for each winner of the Best Picture category, for the promotional poster celebrating 85 years of Oscars. And what he knocked out, was a stunner:

My personal favourites are the Rocky, A Beautiful Mind, Braveheart and Unforgiven Oscars. It’s a simple, yet effective approach, on which Moss remarked:

I worked with the Academy to create the official 85 Years of Oscars poster. The brief was one of the hardest I’ve ever had; find a way to reference every single Best Picture winner from the last 85 years.

Gallery 1988 bankrolled the piece, and will the Moss design as a 27×40″ poster later in the year. As for the Oscars themselves, they’ll be on TV on February 24, in the wee hours of the morning. Which is why we’re pumping Noelle with Redbull by the gallon.
