Prepare to get re-enlisted with the new international trailer for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION

Well, action films seem to be crawling out of the woodwork again and one of the big films ultimate-punching us in the face over the next few weeks is G.I. Joe: Retaliation, starring absolutely everyone, ever.

Well, to be fair, that would have rang more true a few years ago. These days we are treated to quite a few ensemble films, with films like The Avengers and The Expendables exploding on our screens with action-packed glory. With the previous G.I. Joe film performing well at the box office as well, the sequel was inevitable and now, a few years later, its time has come. Set for release at the end of March, it stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, as per Comingsoon.

I have something to get off my chest. It might shock a few of you, but there are some of you who might have expected me to reveal this sooner or later: I haven’t bothered to watch the first G.I. Joe film. There, I said it. While it might not be as shocking that not having watched something actually good like Django Unchained, per se, it does make it quite more strange when I say that the trailer for the second film has piqued my interest. It could be the better CGI, it could be the interesting-looking action sequences. Hell, it might actually just be to see Bruce Willis in a popcorn flick that isn’t Live Free or Die Hard. Whatever the case, take a look. Maybe you see something you like, maybe you don’t. Maybe, just maybe, you can convince your girlfriend to go see it because Channing Tatum is in it. My theory is, this is why he starred in Magic Mike. To give us guys a way to drag our women to see action films.

For this, Mr. Tatum, we thank you. Here’s the trailer:

  1. I’ll say it: I am a long time fan of the Joes, but I cannot help but feel that the first one was a bit of a let down. The Joes they went with made no sense really. Sure, there was Duke and Snake Eyes, not having those two would have been like Avengers without Iron Man and Thor.
But Heavy Duty? He was big, black and did the heavy machine guns. A better choice would have been Roadblock. Now they got Dwayne Johnson playing Roadblock… I am just going huh?

If they have any sense, they should have Roadblock at least do one or two lines where he does his rhyming thing. He had some memorable lines from the GI Joe animated movie:

Play it straight or there’s no doubt. I’ll turn your eyeballs inside out.
    and after he was blinded:
I don’t need to see clear to fracture your rear.

Johnson certainly has the comedic chops to pull it off
