One day, we’ll all have to retire. Most likely into a crap old age home, like the one I have in mind for my father. Incidentally, that’s always a good threat. Take Frank Moses for instance. The old man just wants to lead a peaceful life, but much like a veteran cop who happens to be a mere few weeks away from retirement, the action keeps on hounding him.

And in RED 2, the certainly is no rest for the wickedly badass, as Frank gets called into action once again.

In “RED 2,” the high-octane action-comedy sequel to the worldwide sleeper hit, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world-and stay alive in the process.

I quite enjoyed the original flick. It had some great action, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich were unbelievably comfortable in their off the wall roles and Bruce Willis appeared in a car stunt that Bollywood has been imitating and enhancing ever since. Add the ever reliable Anthony Hopkins with a fresh touch of madness, Byung-hun Lee as some younger muscle and you’ve got what should be an enjoyable sequel. Hopefully.

RED 2 is out in August, and also stars Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Brian Cox, and Neal McDonough. Dean Parisot directs.
