Television rarely gets to craft a tale as visually epic as what can be told on the big screen, but when it does, the results can be staggering sometimes. Game of Thrones has been a runaway success for the HBO network so far, which coupled with the longer hours afforded to the medium of the small screen, has resulted in a show that has crafted some great storylines while looking like a big budget Hollywood movie.

Now in its fourth season of waiting for dragons to appear, Game of Thrones  is back and bigger than ever. Here’s that trailer then.

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, the hit Emmy-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom.

Game of Thrones season 4 as usal boasts a pretty massive cast of actors, such as (deep breath now) Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner. The series is looking as solid as ever, the special effects have been upped and damn man Daewoo Daesoft Daenero Daenerys is a bad ass now!

Series 4 kicks off on April 6, with hopefully a local broadcast arriving a few days later as was the case with season 3.

Is this the season when it gets actually good, and not another “yes, but you have to get through this so that it all makes sense” season?

I don’t read the books. I shouldn’t *have* to read the books, so stop telling me that I have to read the books and if I read them then I would understand. No, that’s bad television- / screen-writing. Confusing, elaborate stories played by characters that look almost identical is annoying. I shouldn’t have to keep asking my girlfriend – who *has* read the books – a. what the heck is actually going on? and b. who is that again?

A great cast, with great acting and superb visuals and costume-design, yes, it is. Confusing and unnecessarily overloaded with similar-looking characters, that too. So will this season be a strong straight-forward story-development one? I really hope so.

Edit: I really enjoyed the first season. It played out well, and the “wow” moment in the 9th episode was great. Since then it’s been a long slug of non-events, even “Red Wedding” was great for removing annoying characters rather than being an “oh no!” moment.

I read the first book and can honostly say it was spot on. There was no difference. Everything was included with very very minor changes that didn’t effect the outcome or story. If you haven’t watched it, please do so! If you have already, then I don’t know why you don’t like it..lol. The story is complex by nature, there is a fuckton of backtabbing going on, so you need to just focus I suppose.
