Seventh Son (8)

We haven’t seen much fantasy released on the big screen as of late, but I have a feeling that’s all going to change. There’sa  ton of swords and sorcery content being planned for future release, but right now the nearest such flick is Seventh Son. That movie has a solid cast lined up so far, with Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Jeff Bridges and Jeff Bridges’ ridiculous accent eating all the scenery. See for yourself.

In a time of enchantments when legends and magic collide, the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order travels to find a prophesized hero born with incredible powers, the last Seventh Son (Ben Barnes).  Torn from his quiet life as a farmhand, the unlikely young hero embarks on a daring adventure with his battle-hardened mentor to vanquish a dark queen (Julianne Moore) and the army of supernatural assassins she has dispatched against their kingdom.

It’s looking pretty solid, I must say. I just hope that we don’t have another Eragon on our hands here. Check out some new images as well, to wet your dragon-whistle.

After being thrown around release dates since 2013, Seventh Son will finally be out in February 2015. The film also stars Alicia VikanderKit HaringtonOlivia WilliamsAntje Traue, and Djimon Hounsou.

  1. Hi Darryn, I am just here to tease you on a Friday its Julianne Moore, not Jody Foster. “That movie has a solid cast lined up so far, with Jodie Foster, Ben
Barnes, Jeff Bridges and Jeff Bridges’ ridiculous accent eating all the
    scenery. See for yourself.”

That actually looks really good. Reminds me of Willow a little bit. Which was just pretty good but still, this looks good.

Hopefully it’s not just a 2hour long VFX reel

Sigh. I know it’s YA fiction, but the books were really good, and this looks nothing like it.
