From one big American pastime to another, we go from Superbowl to Independence Day as yesterday’s mammoth sporting event gave us a brand new look at Independence Day: Resurgence thanks to a new TV spot.
And this new preview doubles down on both the US flag-waving patriotism and returning franchise director Roland Emmerich’s patented wide-screen big budget destruction porn and the results are about as cheesily glorious as I could hope for. I cannot freaking wait!

Will Smith will not be reprising his original character of Sgt. Hiller thanks to coming down with a slight case of being killed off-screen.
