Is your Guardian showing signs of apathy? Does your Hunter offer vague excuses to avoid a raid on Oryx’s Dreadnaught? Are they nowhere to be seen when Xur arrives on Friday? I’m afraid that your Guardian may have contracted a case of…Destiny Detachment. DAN DAN DAAAAAAAAAH!. The Taken King may have given Destiny a much needed update back in September, but that initial thrill has worn off since.
Sure, Destiny’s main focus these days may be on live events, but there’s no denying it: People aren’t staying for long. And Bungie wants to know why. That’s according to a survey that is allegedly making the rounds, asking why players left and what Bungie can do to bring them back into the fold, says Reddit user unknownRNG who posted the questionnaire recently on Imgur (via GamesRadar).
There’s the usual list of responses for the question of “Why haven’t you been playing Destiny lately?”, that includes options such as “I don’t have any one to play with,” “I’ve run out of things to do,” and “I don’t like PvP”. There’s no option for “lag-switching Crucible f***s” that I can see however. Players have also been quizzed on what Bungie needs to do to sway them back over.
It’s been an odd time for the developer lately. The focus has shifted away from the industry standard of paid for DLC, towards random live events that don’t do much to stop the flow of players who are hitting the exit sign on the way out. Bungie’s also got a new big cheese, as company COO Pete Parsons has taken over the role of CEO from Harold Ryan.
“To the players of Destiny, I want you to know that my number one priority, and Bungie’s, is and always has been to deliver great games that we can all share together,” Parsons said when his new position was announced (via GameSpot).
I believe that Destiny is a one-of-a-kind experience. I also believe you have yet to see our studio’s best work. My new role here at the studio will be entirely focused on fulfilling that promise.
Well Bungie is going to need to sort out a game plan soon. Current rumours say that the obligatory sequel won’t be around to kick off year three in September, and more details on how well Destiny has performed will be revealed during an Activision earnings brief on February 11.

The biggest problem with Destiny is that you can’t do anything cool alone, if your friends leave then that’s that. Yes you can make new friends but I’d rather stick with the old crew and play what they’re playing. Now if there were things like single player Raids and Strikes then I’d still be playing for high level loot even though the game wasn’t designed that way.
The other problem is that they split the PVE and PVP players. You can’t cater for both equally. As soon as you add something to the one side the other side can leave. I’ve seen countless whining on the forums when it comes to Trials of Osiris vs. Raids arguments
Lastly they’ve added things only for the hardcore players. Some of the Raids are already hard for people not playing everyday and complaints about it were met with “get gud” or “learn to aim” and now Mr. John Q Casual and his friends from the pub are left scratching their heads on how the hell they are supposed to complete the latest raid challenge, whilst the elite guffaws in their faces.
Destiny was worth every cent I spent on it. I met an awesome group of players and were it not for this game I probably would still be playing with myself…. I meant by myself

Destiny had too much hype for its own good. Once the glow wears off you’re stuck with, “is that all there is?”

I agree with Gavin’s comment. Once I completed Taken King I felt no need to continue. I got decent gear but didn’t see the need to get the ultimate best gear. It was fun in our group and we had a lot of laughs but essentially I am bored of the game. I did enough resource grinding in the game to say fuck it this is not fun. I would log on and run routes for resource and farm it for 2 hours, upgrade my weapons and armour and then find I need more. Nope, I’m done with it. Deleted the game now. There better games to play like CoD 😛

This^ I spent a crap load of time playing Destiny. So much so that it caused a few issues between me and the Girlfriend. I started playing with a mate from school and ended up meeting a core group of guys. We’ve all splintered out to other games but still keep in contact. I have a lot of love for Destiny because of the friends I made while playing it and the experiences it gave me, but it’s kind of reached a stand-still, as I’m sure it has for a lot of people.
Don’t get me wrong, as soon as Bungo bring in something cool i’ll be back on and playing again, but for now, other games have my time and attention.

That last raid was so reliant on a lucky lagless run, it made it a total random and frustrating endeavor.
We were keen, we put in the time, but when stuff messes up that is out of your control, I couldn’t bother. (And fokken jumping… that sucked to life outta the raids too)..
For me, I’ve see all the baddies, after killing the same enemies a thousand times, I really don’t want to continue that repetitive nonsense, no matter what reskinning was done….

To each their own I guess. It’s a lot more grind than Destiny to be honest but I find it a lot more enjoyable. Coming out of a 3 hour long raid with nothing to show for it is nowhere near as satisfying as building your first Prime Warframe without spending any real money to do so. And then again with your first prime weapon and so on and so forth.

MMO Fatigue. Every game gets it. Some just get it faster than other based on the amount of content. Case in point. WoW is losing subs quite fast due to no new content since last patch till the release of Legion. That’s a massive amount of months that most people don’t know what to do. I pretty much just log in every reset to clear off some old raids and finish off some legendary items for lore. Star wars had the same issue but was compounded faster due to raids being cleared as fast as they were implemented.
I also blame open world games making grinding a way too general thing these days.

As much as I loved Destiny: got the shirts, got the art book, done hundreds of hours. It becomes repetitive, my the clan I am with don’t do my hours(work quite a bit and saturday mornings people are doing other things), better games out and a huge backlog.

As soon as they made it impossible to get the gear over 300 as a single player I f#cking rage quit on Destiny! I got myself to the highest level every time and then they screwed me over with The Taken King… Screw them and their game! I am going to sink those hours into The Division. Will scratch that itch quite nicely!

There needs to be a progression of the story (Traveler begins to show signs of life, the identity of the 9 revealed, other warminds come online… something), new locations on Earth and off-world, and a way to increase light to the highest levels whether you’re playing PVP or PVE.

Add more DLC on the Cabal! There was a mission where they contacted the Head of the Cabal empire and I would love to see a DLC where you can fight more Cabal bosses. They should also make another on the VEX.
