Let’s just be honest with each other here. Very, very, very few people ever watched Baywatch for the quality of acting, over-the-top drama (What’s up with all the terrorist plots? Don’t these lifeguards just save people from drowning?!) or endless romantic intrigue. No, more than likely you tuned in every week to just watch physically endowed good looking people (oh and David Hasselhoff) in small red bathing costumes run around on the beach, preferably in slow motion. And it looks like that aspect of the global classic show will definitely be alive in Seth Gordon’s upcoming feature film reboot.

Taking a page from 21 Jump Street‘s book, this Baywatch reboot will actually be an R-rated comedy that skewers the self-serious original show. Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) has already cast physical specimens Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron as the film’s male leads, and now he’s looking for his buxom female lead to star alongside them.

Deadline is reporting that Johnson’s San Andreas co-star Alexandra Daddario leads a shortlist of seven young actresses who are now testing with the male actors to land the gig. The other names on the list are Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush) and Bianca Santos (The DUFF).

If you know those names, then you know that all of them definitely fit the classic Baywatch female profile. If you don’t know those names, don’t worry: Pajiba has gone and done the dirty work for me and rounded up pics of all of these young ladies for you ogle at (like you weren’t going to do that anyway!).

Deadline does also note that there’s some uncertainty as to the number of open roles available, so while one of these ladies will definitely end up the female lead, several of the others – or maybe even all of them – could still end up in the film in smaller roles.

Baywatch has gone through numerous rewrites over the years, but the latest script comes from the new Friday the 13th co-writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. There’s been talk that offers were made for David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson to reprise their roles in the film in some fashion, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
