And now, ladies and gentlemen, the first full trailer for BEHIND THE CANDELABRA

1 min read

We’ve already seen the first teaser trailer for Behind The Candelabra, acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh’s feature film swan song which takes an autobiographical look at the life and loves of famed flamboyant musician, Liberace.

That teaser’s money shot was easily seeing a make-upped Matt Damon dressed up like a little drummer boy. Well, wait until you get a look at Rob Lowe in this new full trailer. I must warn you, if you have recently emptied your tanks you may soon be overflowing with nightmare fuel.

Based on the autobiographical novel, the tempestuous 6-year relationship between Liberace and his (much younger) lover, Scott Thorson, is recounted.

Rob Lowe’s creepy cheekbones that are so sharp that they can cut glass aside, Soderbergh seems to be pulling out all the stops for his last hurrah. There is a glitz and glamour along with an over the top, soap opera-like drama that could make for some very interesting viewing. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, as the acclaimed musician and his secret lover, are definitely committing 100% to the roles, which are so far removed from anything else they’ve done in their career, and I would not be surprised if you were to see either of their names popping up come Emmy and Golden Globes time.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go try and not be haunted by the face of Rob Lowe.

Behind the Candelabra airs on HBO on May 26, 2013.

Kervyn Cloete

My name is Maximus Decimus Kervynius, commander of the Armies of the Northern Suburbs, General of the Felix the Cat Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Jack Kirby. Father to a small highly strung dog, husband to an awesome wife. And I will have my lemon meringue pie, in this life or the next.
