Batman: Arkham Knight on PC will never be fully fixed, refunds offered

Batman Arkham Knight unconditional refunds offered

Batman: Arkham Knight might be a bombastic, explosive end to the trilogy famed developer Rocksteady mapped out years ago, but it’s certainly not feeling like it on PC. Arkham Knight was pulled from sale a day after launch in June, and went up for sale last week after months of tinkering behind the scenes. It is, sadly, still not up to scratch, and Warner Bros. has finally admitted defeat.

Recognising that the extended delay has still brought along with it a fair share of issues for players, Warner Bros. have officially offered an unconditional refund to everyone who purchased Arkham Knight – regardless of how many hours you’ve spent in the game. The refund offer will last until the end of the year. Right now Steam is still addressing an error for refunds on this front, but promise that everyone who wants their money back will get it.

“We are very sorry that many of our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues.”

Warner Bros. have also vowed to continue working on the game to try and fix remaining issues, but conceded that some are just beyond their reach. In that sense, Arkham Knight on PC will never be fully fixed up, and I don’t suspect much support for the title will follow into the new year.

It’s a sad situation for a game that is otherwise rather good, and runs extremely well on both Xbox One and PS4. It’s a direct result of outsourcing though, with the PC version of the game not being directly ported over by Rocksteady. They’ve been working hard to try and get it up to standard, but there’s only so many bandages you can use on a growing wound.

You can all call me Sandy until I figure out how to edit this thing, which is probably never. Sandy not good enough? Call me xXx_J0k3R_360degreeN0Sc0pe_xXx. Also, Geoff’s a bastard.

It’s sad, but in some way it’s good that something like this happened because a lot of devs have been taking chances.

    • WitWolfy

The game became too repetitive for me later on.. Especially with those FORCED Batmobile missions. Will prob go back eventually…

      • Captain JJ the Goo

I’ve heard someone else also complain about the Batmobile missions – something you’d think people would be excited about.
I grew tired of the Arkham Series after Origins anyway. The whole “empty city” was just too cliché and boring after a while. Made the game feel lifeless. Arkham Asylum is still the best one for me.

        • WitWolfy

You know, your right.. Every game just felt like it was an expansion of the last… Would’ve loved a more populated Gotham.. Fighting the same generic goons can get boring as HELL

          • Brady miaau

I LOVED Asylum. It wad tight and controlled, with some open plan areas and some not, but it worked. It worked totally well.

AND the Story was driven by Area OR were the Area’s driven by Story? very cool to play. Even Scarecrow, who kept me up at night: had to finish Scarecrows missions, else I would not be able to slepp.

          • WitWolfy

The illusion of open world is what made the game so great to begin with. “Quality over quantity” I always say.

          • Captain JJ the Goo

I love a good open world, but then it needs to be interesting and lively. The Batman open cities were just populated with random thugs. If there were civs and cars and it felt like a living city, then things might have been different.
But this empty city filled only with bad guys is a little too much like The Dark Knight Rises for me, which was terrible.

          • WitWolfy

I hated that movie… The plotholes in that movie physically hurt me.

          • Captain JJ the Goo

Not to mention that the DARK knight was set entirely during the day.
I just pretend that they ended with The Dark Knight and there was never anything after it.

          • WitWolfy

I almost walked out the theater when he put that leg strenghtener thingie on then kick out a piece of concrete with nothing but his rubber sole.. BS!!!!!!!!

HE HAS A LIMP FFS!!! HE HAS A FREAKING LIMP!!!!!!! That kick is supposed to dislocate he freaking knee of break it again altogether!

          • Nikola

A man once told me just pretend The Dark Knight Rises never happened you could do the same with this game hahah!

  • WitWolfy

The funny thing is my brother in law said he had next to no troubles running AK VANILLA on his PC.. I wonder if running it from a SSD had anything to do with it..??

  • In 8 days no one will remember AK anyways. 🙂

    • Captain JJ the Goo

      This is very true.
      Seven days if you’re Rants.

      • I probs won’t get to play it properly till the weekend anyways.

        • Captain JJ the Goo

I bought it with a group of friends, so they’re all being delivered to the one guy’s house. So I also will only get to play it the weekend. Luckily he’s got a fibre line, so he’s bringing me all the updates. So all I’ll need to do is copy over the Steam backup and gooi

      • Hammersteyn

Gonna troll him so hard when he turns 77

        • Brady miaau

Physical age or cynicism induced age?

          • Hammersteyn

            Both 🙂

    • Hammersteyn

Unless it runs as AK does?

      • Actually this is coming from Bethesda so expect it not to work well for at least 2 weeks.

        • Hammersteyn

      • Dutch Matrix

I would prefer if it runs like Forrest.

        • Hammersteyn

It does, but like he did with his ‘new’ legs.

        • As long as it does not run like “The Forest” 😛

          • Hammersteyn

    • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

With that said, the review embargoes only lift the day prior…which means that I’m buying a game purely built on hype…

      • Buying something from an existing IP from hype is okay in my books. It is not like you pre-ordered Watch_Dogs or something. 🙂

        • th3SiCn3ss

lets not forget…… Alien Colonial Marines 😛

          • ACM is the exception not the rule. Same can be said for TESO or whatever they called it now. But plenty of established IP’s have been amazing with their sequels.

  • Hammersteyn

    huehue master race indeed.

    • Captain JJ the Goo

      More like Master Raze

  • Dutch Matrix

    Arkham G’Knight. Snore…

  • Grand Admiral Chief SpaceNinja

Pc “gamers” being treated as 3rd class citizens and being thrown the scraps of the gaming world again.

“Muh 4K rigz” ain’t worth shit if devs hate you

    • So what if WB hates us. We still get 4K Fallout with mod support. 😛

  • Alien Emperor Trevor

Next up: WB announce they’re no longer releasing PC versions of their games because of some PR spin BS that makes it all the fault of PC gamers.

  • Nikola

Wow just wow what a complete screw up, it’s really sad! Cannot believe how bad this whole thing was it makes the whole AC Unity issue seem like a joke..

  • Nikola

I think it’s time all of the PC gamers just get a console come join the dark side it’s fun here guys:)))

    • RustedFaith

Nah I prefer to game at over 100fps, enjoy the slideshow.

  • Watch arkham knight reach a milestone of most refunded game this year? Then watch all the master racers crack the living hell out of it just for good measure.
Note: I don’t condone piracy on any platform, but watch the more vindictive groups of gamers get their refund and then pirate the game anyways.
