Ben Affleck is definitely not directing the JUSTICE LEAGUE, but could the Wachowski's be up for the gig?

If you were still holding out hope that Ben Affleck was directing Warner Bros’ Justice League, well then I’m sorry to say it, but Affleck himself has just peed in your lemonade.

The Gigli actor turned Oscar nominated director (Haters gonna hate?) finally made a statement on Friday completely dismissing the recent rumours that he was going to helm the superhero team flick.

But now it looks like a couple of slow-mo loving siblings might just be up for the job instead.

Moviehole is reporting that “Warner Bros are apparently jazzed with “Cloud Atlas”, and love that it’s as much a spectacle as it is a showcase for the immense ensemble involved, so it makes sense the W’s are under consideration.”

According to the site, their info comes from a source who has close relations with WB, but at this point there’s nothing else to corroborate the story. Bleeding Cool claims that that it may not be completely true though, as they’re working on a story that Andy and Lana Wachowski
may be up for for a much more personal project which they would probably take ahead of this one.

However, remember those claims from WB a while back that after Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel they weren’t going to be making other superhero movies until 2015? So theoretically, despite being perennial glacially paced workers, they could do both projects.

And it’s not as if they don’t have a good history with WB, as they produced one of the studios biggest earners in the last decade with the Matrix trilogy, and have shown that they could adapt comic books with the best of them with V for Vendetta.

So yes, this could be a good fit for them, especially if early reports about their amazing cast juggling skills on Cloud Atlas turn out to be true. It was Joss Whedon’s ability to give everybody a chance to shine, that really stood out for a lot of people with the Avengers, and Justice League is going to need even more of that.

Most pundits however, are still throwing their chips in with Zombieland and Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer as the man who will most likely end up in the director’s chair. While he is a fine director, I think the Wachowski’s have already proven themselves in a lot of the aspects that would be needed for a successful Justice League movie.

So what do you guys think? Could the Wachowksi’s be a good choice? Or do you have somebody else in mind?

Could someone clear up something about the Avengers Blu-ray/dvd release? Yesterday in Musica I saw release date to be today. Online stores only show it as available the 31’st… Any idea when it will be released?
