Steely-eyed actor Neil McDonough spoke to IMDB about his role in FX’s critically acclaimed TV series, Justified. However, during the interview, he also gave an update on the next wave of Marvel movies. McDonough was last seen sporting the trademark flavour-saver handlebar mustache of Dum Dum Dugan as part of the Howling Commandos in last year’s Captain America, a role he will apparently be reprising soon:
I understand that you’re going to reprise your Captain America role.
Yeah, they’re planning (to go into production for) Captain America 2 for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do Thor 2 and as soon as Thor has wrapped, they’ll do Cap 2. Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything.
Why is that?
Because it’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man.
…And I just pray that they have a 1970’s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s asses for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat. We’ve become friendly over the years.
It sounds like you were a fan of the comic beforehand.
Absolutely. I’m very well aware of the Marvel universe, and to be part of it is such a blessing. To go back to London and shoot there for four months, that was just a great year.
While the Captain America 2 news is certainly not unexpected, this is the first confirmation we’ve received from any cast or crew about a Nick Fury/S.H.I.E.L.D movie. Of course, McDonough could be wrong about it. He certainly wouldn’t be the first actor to sound confident about a future movie/role only to have the studio say something completely different down the line. Personally I hope it gets made, as the world can never have enough Samuel L Jackson with a 70’s styled afro.
PS: This is of course the very first time that Nick Fury has had his own film. Some of you may now be screaming out that I am wrong and that there actually was a cheesy film in the 90’s starring a hairy-chested David Hasslehoff in the lead role, but you’d be wrong. There has never been another Nick Fury movie. Just like there never was a Speed 2 or any other seasons of Prison Break besides the first. Capisce?

Please let Sam blurt out;
“I am tired, of these mother-lovin’ Hyrdas on this mother-lovin’ tactical flying fortress airship of mine!”.
