Even though I felt it was a slight step off from the comic brilliance of its predecessor, there was still a crap load of funny material to be found in this year’s 22 Jump Street. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were once again on point as undercover buffoons Jenko and Schmidt, and co-director Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs) just stuffed it full of hilarious sight gags and in-jokes. The skewered everything from classic Benny Hill comedy routines to doing hilarious self-aware running commentary on the tropes of action movie sequels, such as completely unnecessary and over-the-top car chases.
But even with all of that, arguably the best moment in the movie actually happened after it was done, when Ice Cube’s Captain Dickson informed the duo that their undercover days were just getting started. What followed was a series of brilliantly funny posters advertising the movie’s many, many “sequels” that were still to come. And now, thanks to JoBlo, we have them all to show off!
So let us know which one’s your favourite (I’m partial to 36 Jump Street: Military School myself, just for that tag line), and whether or not you think the recently announced 23 Jump Street – that’s the real sequel, not a gag poster – will actually send the guys to Medical School?
