After a pre- and post-production cycle so secretive that even JJ Abrams was like “Daaaaaamn, just give them something already!” this coming Friday will finally see us getting our first official look at Warcraft.
Duncan “Moon” Jones’ highly anticipated adaptation of the long running, best-selling video game franchise did debut a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but that was exclusively for the people in attendance while the best the rest of us could get were bootlegged copies that look like they were recorded with Nokia 3310’s. Under water. But with the release of the film’s new poster (above) yesterday, news alos broke that the first official trailer will be released in two days time.
But if you can’t even wait that long, then you’re in luck as a number of reasonably good quality stills from the movie have leaked online early (via Neogaf). These images show us the characters we’ve already seen in the marketing in Toby Kebbel’s Orc chieftain Durotan, Travis Fimmel’s human war hero Anduin Lothar, Rob Kazinsky’s Orc warrior Orgrim Doomhammer and Dominic Cooper’s King Llane Wrynn, but now we also see more Alliance knights, what may be Paula Patton’s half orc/half human character Garona, some Alliance and Horde settlements, and, of course, a giant freaking Frostwolf! Ooh!
UPDATE: Since writing this article, Legendary and Universal have unveiled a 15-second teaser for the official trailer coming on Friday. I hate teaser trailers for trailers, but right now I will take anything I can get, especially if it looks this damn good!
HOLEEEEEE CRAP! Okay, I now NEED that full trailer in my life immediately! Why isn’t it Friday yet?!
Warcraft also stars Ben Foster, Ruth Negga, Ben Schnetzer, Clancy Brown and Daniel Wu. It is scheduled for release on June 10, 2016.
The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Wow. That actually looks really good. I had my reservations, but that is impressive! Looking forward to seeing more.

My TV is set up to continuously stream the blizzcon event. I have friends coming over to play WoW and watch the streams. We are almost as excited for this as we are for Star Wars.
