Deadpool 2 – Here’s your first look at Zazie Beetz as Domino

Here’s what we know about Deadpool 2 so far: Ryan Reynolds is back, Josh Brolin joins in on the fun as future soldier Cable and I’m also betting easy money that Deadpool’s masturbation Croc shoes will feature prominently in the third act. What we also know about Deuxpool, is that Zazie Beetz signed up to play a familiar face in the mutant franchise: Domino.

What we didn’t know, is what the Atlanta star would look like as the probability-gifted Homo Superior warrior. Would Deadpool 2 stick to chalk-white skin and a single shade of black around an eye for when Beetz got into character? Kind of! But not exactly as Deadpool himself tweeted a first look at Beetz suited up, once again poking fun at the legendary Burt Reynolds pin-up that the first Deadpool movie aped in turn:

I dig it! It’s the inverse of how you’d expect Domino to look, but the rest of the costume looks true to character. Bearing in mind of course, that Domino’s outfit usually consisted of the tightest leather around, so this isn’t exactly straying too far from the source material. I think Beetz looks like a rock star, and the more I see of her in costume the more I love the look chosen. At least it’s a hell of a lot easier for Beetz to have the make-up done, compared to the hours that Reynolds has to sit through every morning to be turned into someone who looks like they enjoy facing-surfing on newly-tarred roads.

If you need a quick refresher on Domino, she’s a mutant with the power to be incredibly budget-friendly on the big screen. Or to be exact, as long as she keeps moving she’s pretty much a bullet-dodging machine that can slightly warp reality around her to keep the odds in her favour. Handy stuff. Deadpool 2 is currently filming, with an expected release date of June 1 next year.
