The world works in cycles and what was hip in the 80s is undoubtedly going to be a hit in the near future if not today already. And it seems Disney is thinking the same thing, as they have just announced that their huge animation hit DuckTales is getting relaunched. That’s right all you 30-somethings parading around like a small kid, that favourite show of yours is on its way back.

This news comes courters of Entertainment Weekly, who confirmed that the series is indeed on its way back on Disney XD and will be hitting TV screens around mid-2017. Move over little kids, your parents might kick you off the couch to watch this one if the new series is anything as good as the original.

DuckTales centers around the ultimate example of someone who is filthy rich, but still doesn’t want to share any of their money –  Scrooge McDuck, his nephew, Donald, and his grandnephews, Huey, Dewie, and Louie as they travel the world with the help of their trusty pilot, Launchpad McQuack. It was a classic series which hasn’t been affected by the affect of nostalgia, as Disney had done a genuine good job at writing the episodes for this series and make the most out of the diverse and funny set of characters.

And also accompanying them in this new series is Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack, who did appear in the original series but wasn’t featured much. With gender equality perhaps a bigger thing now than it was back then, Disney perhaps feels the need to get a female character featured more in this new series.

And while the show will still be developed around the new technology of the digital age, Disney is planning on keeping the look the same as that of the hand drawn style from the original series, so we should know how it should all play out. Clever move from Disney to keep the nostalgia value of the new series at a high.

The reports also mentions that the first season will consist of 21 half-hour episodes and two one-hour specials, which will offer plenty of opportunities for entertainment from the series. While I’ve certainly grown up [Ed – Don’t lie] – I still think of the Duck Tales series with great fondness and look forward to once again reminiscing at how I still don’t have my own vault full of gold. Anyone willing to donate to a good cause to make this dream come true?

A man of many talents, but no sense how to use them. I could be discovering the cure for aids or finding ways to achieve world peace, but I'd rather be watching movies and writing here instead.

Hopefully Gizmoduck will make an appearance too.
