Eli Roth is coming to THANKSGIVING to scare the stuffing out of you!

I don’t know about you guys, but when it came to Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse films in 2007, the best parts of the whole double-feature for me were the fake movie trailers that played in between the two films. Rodriguez already turned one of them, Machete, into a successful franchise and now after years of speculation about it, it looks like another of the ridiculous concepts is finally getting made.

So I hope you’re hungry, because it’s time for Eli Roth to do some carving for Thanksgiving!

The gore-obsessed director spoke to Behind The Thrills about his new horror-themed attraction Goretorium – think Disneyland except Walt Disney was Charles Manson, and instead of candy floss and Mickey Mouse ears, you got violent death and your own puke on your shoes – and during the interview was asked about whether or not anything would ever come from the fake trailer:

“Dude, it’s gonna happen. I’m working with the CLOWN writers on it. We have a call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Jeff Rundell, my co-writer and I have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and how to make it really really scary, and the reason to do it, and I’m really excited about it. So the CLOWN script was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read, and we’re like ‘before Jon [Watts] shoots CLOWN, he has a window.’ Chris Ford, who’s movie ROBOT & FRANK just opened… Chris and John are going to write the screenplay with me and my partner Jeff, so we’ll have a screenplay soon.”

While I’m normally not a fan of the grindhouse styled “intentionally trashy” films, if they dial up the ridiculous humourous side that was present for some parts of the trailer like Rodriguez did with Machete (“Machete don’t text”), then I could certainly get behind this.

And for those of you who need a refresher, here’s the very NSFW fake trailer for Thanksgiving.

Now we just sit back and wait for the inevitable announcement for Werewolf Women of the SS, because – and I say this with complete honesty and zero sarcasm – there’s absolutely nothing that this world needs more right now than Nicolas Cage as Fu Man-Chu. It must happen!

I think Cabin Fever was his best work, and while I welcome a good grindhouse classic I was never a fan of the Hostel films.
