Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

We start off today with this speech from US President Barack Obama. Arguably the most important speech he’s ever made. You see, the US government is apparently (maybe) building something super cool that you may just be interested in.

Great Caesar’s ghost! All you Ron Burgundy fans may need to drown your sorrows in some scotchy scotch scotch, because according to director Adam McKay, after they release the new R-Rated extended cut of Anchorman 2 – called Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues… Continued – in selected cinemas tomorrow,  that will be the last we see of everybody’s favourite news team, despite the film doing respectable business at the box office.

“It’s done. I think that’s it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy.”

“No, that’s the last sequel we’re gonna do. There’s nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3.”

You can’t see it, but I’m a deep shade of green right now. No, this has nothing to with my Hulk cosplay for Free Comic Book Day this year, but rather I’m incredibly envious that the guys at Pajiba came up with this incredible idea before me. What idea, you ask? Well, the recently released Guardians of the Galaxy has been going down gangbusters with fans, and one of the reasons is the combination of just badass space opera action and earworm inducing soundtrack. So the folks at Pajiba have sat down, and using SCIENCE! have come up with a simply brilliant list of the best earworms to be used in trailers for proposed adaptations of some of the best comics of the last 20 years.

Here’s the sheepish new poster for Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West. No, I don’t mean that the move is Australian.

According to reports, Patrick Wilson has joined Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, and no, gosh darnit, this is not some Watchmen/Ant-Man crossover. The erstwhile Owl-Man will be joining the already cast Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas as Scott Lang and Hank Pym respectively. Wilson’s role is being kept under wraps for now, with the only clue being that Marvel had been looking for another “charismatic male lead”. Could he be the film’s baddie?

Michael Pena is apparently also in talks for another unspecified role, while Evangeline Lilly has apparently Marvel’s top pick for the female lead, but she’s still hemming an hawing about it due to the fact that it would be a commitment to a multi-film deal.

There’s a good chance that her performance in Gravity will net Sandra Bullock an Oscar this year, but even if she doesn’t win the golden statue, she can just go home and drown her sorrows Scrooge McDuck style in the small mountain of money she’s made from the outer space thriller. Just how much money, you ask? According to reports, Bullock apparently signed a deal that gave her $20 and 15% of the film’s first dollar gross, and with the Alfonso Cuaron helmed flick making just over $700 million worldwide, that means that the actress will walk away with a pay day of at least $70 million! And that’s just from the box office take, because Bullock is also set to take a piece of the home release pie, which means she’s about to have one of the biggest paydays for a Hollywood actress ever!

Speaking of being awesome in outer space… You may recall the epic Van Damme splits? Well, after you’ve split on a pair of reversing trucks, how do you top that? Like this, apparently.

Easily one of the best moments in director David Fincher’s incredible Se7en is the famous “head in the box finale. It’s a scene that punches you in the gut with its intensity and the brilliantly macabre way it completes Kevin Spacey’s killer’s plan. And it totally only happened because Fincher had read the wrong script. You can find out exactly how, along with some other accidentally created iconic movie moments in Cracked’s list of 6 Terrible Decisions That Gave Us Great Movie Moments.

Melissa McCarthy has become known for doing screwball odd couple comedies, and none can be odder than her next outing. In Susan Cooper, which will see McCarthy hook up with director Paul Feig for a third time after Bridesmaids and The Heat, the funny lady will play an unlikely spy who will be partnered up with another spy played by none other than Jason Statham.

The British hard man is more known for his action roles, and this will be the first time he’s doing an out and out comedy, though he certainly showed off a funny side in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

At this stage, you probably not looking for any more reasons to go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier when it releases, but here’s one more. Well, four more reasons actually. And they’re green. Producer Galen Walker has revealed on his Facebook page (via ComingSoon) that the first trailer for the Jonathan Liebesman directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be attached to Marvel’s star-spangled sequel when that film releases on April 4.

I’m pretty sure that at some point in your hormonally charged life, you thought it would be pretty cool to be involved in a sex scene with some smoking hot actress/actor. But have you ever thought about exactly how a sex scene is made? Watch this clip and you may change your mind about faux-bumping ugly on a movie set.

Like most of you, I’m sure, when I first saw the designs for Batman’s new Batmobile in Batman Begins, I responded with a very loud “WTF is this shit?!” And then I saw it in action in the movie, and suddenly wanted one like Darryn wants a real girlfriend. And now, that dream can become a reality (I’m talking about the car, not Darryn’s relationship status. We don’t deal in the impossible here) as the folks over at James Edition are selling not just one, but five street legal replicas of the “Tumbler” for a cool $1 million apiece. And if I had $1 million, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Speaking of Batman Begins, as much as I love that movie (to a certain extent, even more than The Dark Knight), there’s certainly nothing wrong with poking fun at it. Which is exactly what the folks at How It Should Have Ended have done. Make sure you watch the clip all the way to the end!
