Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • Simon Pegg is currently in talks to star in the TV show L.A Noir, which disappointingly, is not a re-imagining of LA Law or an adaptation of the hit video game of the same name, which debuted last year, and also taught gamers that shouting like a lunatic when you suspect someone of lying is the best possible way to solve a crime.

Nothing says super-successful movie design than having your poster for said project blatantly plagiarised, and we’ve got a whole gallery of them right here, courtesy of who else, but the entire Chinese film industry.

WAIT A MINUTE! Their version of Daddy Day Camp actually looks…worth watching!

The Avengers are going to be assembling soon, and even though we’ve seen tons of footage, posters and have been threatening Joss Whedon for more info, we’re still no closer to finding out what exactly the mightiest heroes on earth will be facing.

In the meantime, we’ve got a Japanese trailer for the film, with some slightly new footage inserted into it. So clicky here for the Asian trailer, which frustratingly, has no embed code yet. AVENGERS, ASSEMBLERU!

Do you remember the Super-Friends? You don’t? I envy you. The classic toon may be dead, but that doesn’t mean that the idea of friends with super-powers isn’t!

DC has a new toon coming out based on the concept, starring Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl, see for yourself below.

  • Can’t get enough of fine young Greek men with rippling muscles, war-cries and revealing leather underwear? Good thing that prequel to 300 is on the way then! 300: Battle of Artemesia is ramping up on production, and while a score of new faces will make their spears felt, it looks like we might see Xerxes return, as actor Rodrigo Santoros is currently in talks to resume the role of the giant gold-chain lover.
  • 24 May have come to a dramatic close a while ago already, but that doesn’t mean that Kiefer Sutherland is ready to have another bad day. Except this time, it’s not related to the film actually being filmed, but more to the film being halted once again. The film has numerous issues plaguing it right now, from salary and shooting schedule issues, to actually finding a solid director and some dependable crews to produce the project. It seems that Jack Bauer has finally met his match this time, in the form of studio politics.

And lastly, Chris Hemsworth has found some time to put down his unnamed sword while shooting the Snow White and the Huntsman, to tease a new trailer for the film, one that details the world around him, the dwarves underneath, and locusts around him.

Ladies, you may now consider yourself smitten.

And that’s it for today. If you need me, I’ll be pitching my life story to network executives to turn into a straight to DVD film.

It’s got Batman, tea, cats and me sitting behind a keyboard typing for a solid twelve hours while occasionally scratching my bottom.

Pure Oscar material, am I right?
