Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

The Extras! might be a tad less on content today, but blame that on my stomach which has decided to pull a Xanatos gambit on me. Moving on! Do you miss the action movies of yesteryear? When Bruce Willis could shoot a bad guy and the only ramifications of his actions would be to have an angry black desk sergeant chew him out at the precint? The action movie of then is pretty much dead, but its spirit may live on, in the upcoming Olympus Has Fallen.

AICN got to see the movie recently, and they have nothing but praise for Antoine Fuqua’s skop, skiet en donner masterpiece:

I saw a screening of Olympus Has Fallen in Tucson last night. I’m an action movie junkie and this movie blew me away! Original Die Hard on steroids!!

Right now, Channing Tatum is starting to get worried.

So who is going to be in Star Wars Episode VII? Will Mark Hammil go on diet so that he can fit into his Jedi robes? Will Harrison Ford be coherent enough without the aid of various drugs? Did George Lucas ever remove that dead midget from R2D2? Those are all questions for old actors.

But what about the latest crop of thespians? Would they like a shot at going to a galaxy far, far away? Total Film asked them that very question, below:

Melissa McCarthy as Chewbacca? Makes sense to me. Also, Jason Statham: Jedi Knight. We need to Kickstart this movie NOW!

The Earth of the future is dangerous place. Because according to this new poster from the M Night Shazbot directed fil, gigantic Will and Jaden Smith’s roam the planet, looking to unleash attacks that guarantee starring roles in movies for their children.

Jurassic Park returns to cinemas this year, but that’s a 3D re-release of the first, classic film. So what’s happening with Jurassic Park 4? Well, it seems that filming might begin real soon, as scouts are currently checking out the bayou in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sounds like some T-Rex gumbo is going to be served up tonight, mmhmmm.

Watch out Mount Vesuvious, the Napoleon of crime is headed your way! Casting and pre-production is moving at a steady pace for the upcoming Paul Anderson Pompeii, which charts the final days of that city before it got volcanoed. Also, there’s something about action and a gladiator, but who cares.

The mastermind from the last Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes will be flying down to that doomed Roman city, as Jared Harris has confirmed that he will have a role to play, alongside Kit Harington and Emily Browning.

At some point in our lives, we’ve all played a game of Super Mario Bros. We all know the story. Princess Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser, and Mario has to save her, one mushroom-filled jump at a time. But what if it was real? And I don’t mean Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper real. That’s the question in this Super Mario Bros trailer, that is currently taking SXSW by storm.
