Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street may not be the first movie you think of when it comes to VFX -although I’m sure that they definitely had to employ some computing magic to work out new ways of adding the word “f–k” to each line of dialogue -but that’s the beauty of good VFX: You really shouldn’t even know that it’s there. Unless you watch a video like this next one, in which they tell you exactly where\how they added in the VFX.

Looks like  “Iron” Mike Tyson is hoping to take a bite… out of the box office. While in attendance at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, the ex-boxing champ and current regrettable tattoo choice model has revealed to a reporter that he and his wife Lakiha Spicer are hoping to produce a film about Tyson’s younger life, from his troubled childhood to becoming undisputed heavyweight champ of the world. To this end they are trying to employ the services of Helen Mirren and Kevin Spacey, with them hoping Mirren will play Tyson’s adoptive mother, Camille Ewald, while Spacey will take on the role of Tyson’s Cus D’Amato. The film is said to based on a script from Larry Sloman, who co-wrote The Undisputed Truth, the former boxer’s autobiography.

And because nothing says “I love you” quite like a girl trapped in TV by an evil spirit, Fox has revealed that that they will be releasing their Poltergeist reboot on Valentine’s Day 2015. The horror flick will face some… *cough*… stiff competition from Fifty Shades of Grey which opens the same day.

Remember how Michael Bay infamously walked off the stage at this year’s CES after a teleprompter bungling? Well this is how he should have walked off the stage.

Apparently when you go to see Avengers: Age of Ultron you’re going to need a flashlight and some water, because the superhero sequel is going to be “dark and dry”. At least, that’s according to Scarlett “Black Widow” Johansson, who also revealed that she’s had to postpone her wedding to instead hang out with some guys in spandex.

“I’m busy planning Avengers 2 right now! That’s my main focus… I think the script is dark and dry. It’s got this amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humor. Obviously the script is very cerebral.”

“It doesn’t lose that exciting comic-book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it’s smart and it feels like the next instalment. It doesn’t feel like a rehashing, it feels like these characters are moving forward, plot lines are moving forward. It’s deep and I think that’s why people really respond to the Marvel universe, because the films are fun and exciting and have all that flashy stuff, but there’s a gravity to them. People can expect that gravity this time around.”

Ever wonder how SyFy comes up with those crazy concepts for their creature features? Well, wonder no more.

And in today’s edition of “No shit, Sherlock!”, it’s been confirmed that stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will be reprising their roles for all three of James Cameron’s planned Avatar sequels. They will be joining the already announced Stephen Lang, who apparently is not letting a trivial thing like dying in the first film stop him from showing up in all the rest.

Congratulations, cleverly designed minimalist posters of classic movies used for the Polish Erotic Film Festival, you win the internet for today. And yes, that Lord of the Rings one is exactly what you think it is.

It’s a little over two months until the release of Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, but apparently it’s never too late to add a little Nick Nolte. The wirter/director revealed on Twitter that the three time Oscar nominated Nolte has joined the production to provide the voice of Samyaza, which according to religious texts was a fallen angel and also one of the Grigori aka the watchers.

@DarrenAronofsky: just added the legend nick nolte as the watcher samyaza in . long live the nephilim! it was an honor.

Now if that’s not the face of an angel, then I just don’t know what is!

There’s a story that began making the rounds late last night Terriers and Sons of Anarchy star Donal Logue has been offered the lead role of Detective Jim Gordon in Fox’s Batman spinoff TV series Gothambut apparently this is just not true. The 47-year old Logue explained to a fan on Twitter precisely why he’d be a bad pick for the series, which is said to follow Bruce Wayne from when he’s a 12-year old boy to when he first decides to become Batman.

“Not true! I wish-would be awesome (but who could top Gary Oldman?) From what I heard, Gotham catches Gordon in his late 20’s.”

And it looks like the Ant-Man casting news is maybe not over yet. According to The Wrap, an insider has informed them that End of Watch star Michael Pena has been approached by Marvel for a role alongside Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in the formic superhero adventure. Marvel have since denied this, but in the world of Hollywood, a casting denial from a studio holds as much water as a butterfly net.

If you’re one of those people who think that all babies are cute, you’re about to have your beliefs question. As part of the viral ad campaign for the upcoming horror lick Devil’s Due, the marketing folks pulled off this rather scary devil baby prank.

I’ll just leave this here. It’s out of my mind now, but not before serious damage was done.
