While we’ve seen quite a number of images featuring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we’ve yet to see anything from her own solo film which is currently busy shooting. We haven’t heard much either – well, at least nothing concrete anyway, as everything has merely been rumours about the narrative. But now some Wonder Woman set pics have popped up online that may just actually confirm one of these rumours.

French actor Saïd Taghmaoui (G.I. JOE : Rise Of Cobra, Three Kings) posted two pics on his Facebook and Instagram accounts (they have since been removed, but nothing on the internet is ever gone forever), which show himself alongside Chris Pine – who has been cast as fighter pilot/Wonder Woman love interest Steve Trevor – on the set of the film. And based on the clothes worn by the two men, the pic seemingly confirms the rumour that the movie will be taking place during the World War I era.

There have a been a few different rumours surrounding Wonder Woman‘s narrative, with the latest and most plausible story stating that it’s only the first half of the movie that takes place in the past, while the second half is set in modern times, after the events of Batman v Superman. The rumour also claimed that Warner Bros/DC Comics was after Eva Green to play the sorceress Circe and Sean Bean to play Ares the Greek god of war, with these magical foes being the primary antagonists of the film that the 200-year old Wonder Woman would be battling for nearly a century. A more recent rumour stated that Pine’s Steve Trevor would be assisting Wonder Woman in the modern times in this battle, but unless Trevor suddenly also became a demi-god I’m not quite sure he’s going to survive that long.

At this point neither Green or Bean have been officially confirmed for the production, but recently it was reported that Nicole Kidman has joined the cast in a significant role – although it’s more likely that she is playing Hyppolyta, Queen of the Amazons and Wonder Woman’s human mother (her dad being Greek god head honcho Zeus).

It’s also unclear just who Taghmaoui is playing in Wonder Woman (which is currently shooting under the codename “Nightingale” to avoid press – and clearly not working), as this is actually the first time we’ve ever seen his name attached to the project. Based on the fact that he has his very own named chair next to that of Gadot and Pine, you would have to think that it’s a substantial role.

Director Patty Jenkins (Monster) is currently shooting the film in London off a script from Jason Fuchs (Pan, Ice Age: Continental Drift), so hopefully we’ll be getting some more official information soon. Wonder Woman is set for release on 23 June 2017.

  1. Sean Bean as Ares? Well, at least that means he will survive!
