Edgar Wright may be about to get stuck into the microscopic world of a certain formic superhero, but before that he first needs to head down to the pub for a pint with the boys for the conclusion to his “Blood and Ice Cream trilogy”.

The World’s End sees Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as part of a group of friends who try to complete the epic pub crawl they began years earlier to the legendary pub, The World’s End, only to have their boozing slightly inconvenienced by the world actually ending.

And these first set pics, give us our first look at those young boozers.

The unknown bespectacled kid would be the younger version of Nick Frost’s character, Andy Knight, while the greasy looking young man in the trench-coat would be the youthful counterpart to Simon Pegg’s Gary King.

Being a huge fan of Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, the first two installments in the kind-of trilogy (the first two films just both feature lots of gore and Cornetto ice-creams, but are not related narrative-wise), I can’t wait to see what the trio of Wright, Pegg and Frost have come up with this time. Especially since Wright has claimed that this film will somehow link up with the previous two films.

Synopsis:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Nah that was a Pegg and Frost solo effort. Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and this make up the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy.

Well, it’s an unofficial trilogy, as I mentioned in the article.
