I usually have the same levels of anticipation for a new Adam Sandler movie as what I reserve for invasive dental surgery, but I must admit that I I have a perverse curiosity about Ridiculous 6.
The first movie produced as part of Sandler’s Netflix deal, the comedy-western made headlines earlier in the year due to controversial racist jokes that caused a huge proponent of the film’s Native American cast to walk off set. Sandler and co maintained that it was all a big misunderstanding, and the first trailer intentionally doesn’t poke any fun at Native Americans, but judging by rest of the low-brow jokes found all over it, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
This parody of the classic western The Magnificent Seven does boast a lot of star power in its lineup, including Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Terry Crews, Danny Trejo and more (also Taylor Lautner giving his most true-to-life performance ever), but this seems like just another day at the frat boy office for Sandler. It will of course make a fortune, because clearly the world hates us.
The Ridiculous 6 will debut on Netflix on December 11.

After Pixels I am just about done with Adam Sandler. I miss the days of Happy Gilmore and The Wedding singer.

To say I am not interested would be a very big understatement…

I’d take this over a Seth Rogen movie any day of the week.
