Say what you like about the upcoming robo-remake of the classic cyborg law enforcer, but if there’s one thing that the film has going for it, it’s a pretty damn good cast so far.

Joel Kinnaman, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L Jackson, Gary Oldman and Abbie Cornish are in for the long run on this project, with Jackie Earle “Watchmen” Haley joining the cast, to put the boot in the reboot.

Haley will portray Maddox, a military trainer who gives the titanium-plated lawman his training, in the fine art of cyborg-police brutality. Haley isn’t the only new cast addition though, as Jay “Million Dollar Baby” Baruchel is also in negotiations right now join the cast.

Shooting kicks off in September for Robocop, with Toronto being used as a backdrop for a hive of scum and villainy gone wild, AKA future Detroit City.

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

As for Haley, you can catch his next performance in the Steven Spielberg directed Lincoln in January 2013, which disappointingly has no axes or vampires in it.
