Kevin Smith may be preparing to leave the film industry with one final film in his Clerks universe, but it seems that he’s not against letting other folks make use of some of his more beloved characters. Like Jay and Silent Bob. The duo of foul-mouthed ideas and silence have already been in one cult hit film so far, but Smith is bringing them back to the land of animation once again.

Realising that they can no longer deal with all the crime happening around them, the New Jersey twosome once again don the garb of the weed-fuelled heroes Bluntman and Chronic, and wage war on the terrible League of Shitters.

Right now, Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie has a giggle-worthy $69 000 budget, and has the voices of Eliza Dushku, Tara Strong, Ralph Garman, Neil Gaiman, Ben Gleib, Jon Lovitzand more lined up to take part in it.

Steve Stark is handling the animation, after he approached Smith and partner Jason Mewes with a YouTube cartoon based on their infamous SModcast episodes. It’s going on a screening tour in the States from April 20, but don’t expect to see it on the big screen here, due to it being a niche film and all.

Keep an eye out for the eventual DVD or digital release. Snootchie bootchies!
