It’s good to be Joseph Gordon Levitt these days. No matter the film, the man is in high demand, whether it’s delivering packages at premium speed, or convincing Batman to get back into action. But JGL ain’t just an actor yo. The man is also trying his hand at directing, and for his debut flick, he’s playing the part of a man with an addiction that hits way to close to the home of TheMovies.co.za.
Online pornography.
Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
It’s certainly an interesting take on romance. JGL looks to be in fine form here as Jersey Shore dude, and it actually looks pretty damn funny. Not because I’ll get any of the inside jokes revolving around the taboo subject matter, nosirree.
Don John hasn’t got a release date yet, but it shouldn’t be long before this Sundance entry gets picked up.

That does look interesting. Could be a fun movie. Probably not first date material.

Don Jon garnered quite a bit of praise when it did the festival circuit earlier in the year, so it will be one to keep an eye on.
