Jose Padilha's ROBOCOP remake is getting a Little Chalky

Oh come on Robocop remake, how can you expect me to irrationally say bad things about you, when your cast just keeps getting better and better? The latest actor looking to join Jose Padilha’s version of Paul Verhoeven’s tale is Michael K. Williams, best known to audiences as Omar Little and Chalky White, respective characters from The Wire and Boardwalk Empire, two of the greatest series ever to grace television.

What’s interesting is that Williams is in talks to play Alex Murphy’s (Joel Kinnaman) partner before he got gunned down and turned into a walking espresso machine of death. Those of you who remember the original would know that Murphy’s partner was slightly more female. And white.

Played by Nancy Allen in the 1987 original, Officer Lewis helped Murphy recover his humanity after he was transformed into Robocop. At this point it’s unknown whether or not Williams will looking to play a male version of this character or whether this will be somebody entirely new.

If Williams does come on board, he will be joining an already stellar line-up of Hugh Laurie as the main villain, Gary Oldman as Norton, Robocop’s creator, Abby Cornish as his wife, Samuel L. Jackson as media mogul Pat Novak and Jackie Earle Healey as Maddox, the military man who “trains” Robocop to be the ultimate cybernetic police officer.

  1. The name is Padilha, not Padhila.

Thanks for the catch. That’s unfortunately the second time I’ve done that.

It’s Omar! Probably the biggest badass to ever grace the small screen.

Dude, I am utterly hooked on Boardwalk Empire. Richard Harrow and Chalky White are probably my favourite TV characters of the last few years.

And lets not forget Dunn Pearnsley, who had one of my favourite moments of the entire series with Chalky.
