Superman may be the most powerful member, but when it comes to the Justice League there’s always only been one true leader in my opinion: Batman. Although technically the least powerful member of the DC Comic superhero team, he’s the one that often rallies and coordinates the entire Justice League. So it should come as no surprise that in the real world, the Dark Knight is higher up on the priority list. At least when it comes to movie release schedules.

THR are reporting that the director Zack Snyder’s Justice League sequel will be vacating its 2019 release date to instead make room for Ben Affleck’s directed Batman film. Tentatively titled The Batman, this film will see the Oscar-winning Affleck not only reprise his Batman v Superman role as the Caped Crusader, but also direct and co-write the script with DC Comics stalwart Geoff Johns. The film will see Batman facing off against the infamous mercenary Deathstroke, played by True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello. Although not officially confirmed yet, it’s believed that The Batman will take the still-untitled Justice League 2’s slot of June 14, 2019, while Justice League has not received a new date yet.

Deathstroke-2

Snyder will finish his current post-production work on the first Justice League, scheduled for release on November 17, 2017, and will then instead develop his long gestating original film The Photograph, about two men who go on a journey through war-time Afghanistan after finding a mysterious photo. It is assumed he will start work on Justice League 2 straight after that, but with a supposed Man of Steel sequel also reportedly being fast tracked at Warner Bros, don’t be surprised to see that film also get slotted in before the Justice League assembles again.

  1. I hope The Photograph is successful and gets commissioned for a sequel and Zack Snyder decides to abandon the DC Universe and never comes back
