If you haven’t made the time yet to check out some of the animated DC Comic book films, then you’re missing out on movies which put some of the recent big screen efforts to shame. Last year saw the iconic Dark Knight Returns story adapted, while Superman made a smaller appearance this year in Superman: Unbound. Great films, and at the very least, fun films.
Now, it’s time for the Flash to star in his own film, a movie that helped set up a brand new universe when its original comic book source material hit the stands about two years ago.
While I won’t spoiler the details surrounding it, it’s safe to say that the Earth that the Flash finds himself in is an unfamiliar one. Bruce Wayne died next to his mom that fateful night outside the cinema. England and its populace has been slaughtered and turned into a new homeland by Wonder Woman and the Amazons. Superman is nowhere to be found.
At the heart of it all is The Flash, who realizes that even in a depowered state, he may have more to do with this timeline gone wrong than he realizes. The film is out on DVD and online services from July 30, and stars the voices of Justin Chambers and Kevin McKidd as the Flash and Batman, respectively. Michael B. Jordan, C. Thomas Howell, Nathan Fillion, Ron Perlman, Dana Delany, Cary Elwes, Danny Huston, Sam Daly and Kevin Conroy also lend a vocal chord.
