Warning! This article contains offensive content! Well, offensive if you’re one of the loudmouth dudebro’s on the internet who somehow still feel emasculated by the fact that somebody is making a new Ghostbusters with almost all-female lead cast. And if the thought of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon bustin’ some ghosts for a new generation is already too much for you to handle, then you’re probably having a conniption at the fact that alpha-male Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the new group’s ditzy receptionist.
Personally, I think director Paul Feig’s gender flipping could actually work out pretty awesome, especially with the funny and talented cast he’s assembled. We’ve seen a fair amount of that cast already, but we’ve yet to actually see Hemsworth’s character. But thanks to some new pics from Ghostbusters.com (via Collider), we have our first proper look at Kevin the receptionist and it’s quite the cool gender-swapped take on Annie Potts’ original Ghostbusters receptionist Janine Melnitz.
As Collider points out, more than just the look of the character, what I’m really excited to see is if Feig can work the same type of comedic magic on Hemsworth as he did with tough guy Jason Statham in Spy. If you’re one of the 7 people (I am one) who saw the recent Vacation reboot, then you would know that the Thor star already has some comedy chops. Him and his large… hammer, were quite the scene stealers in that movie – now imagine what he could do with a proper comedy writer/director guiding.
Along with Hemsworth’s Kevin, we also have some new pics of McCarthy’s Abby Yates, Wiig’s Erin Gilbert, Jones’ Patty Tolan and McKinnon’s Jillian Holtsmann in action. Check them out below.
Ghostbusters also stars Neil Casey, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh and Cecily Strong. It’s already been confirmed that film will also feature cameos by the aforementioned Potts, alongside original stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. Ghostbusters is scheduled for release on July 15, 2016.

I don’t mind the all female cast, I do mind Melissa McCarthy though.
