OUT OF THE FURNACE

Need one final trailer to end off your Friday? Well here’s a solid one starring Batman, an Affleck, the Green Goblin and the last king of Scotland. Cott “Crazy Heart” Coopers next film is once again set in the heartland of America, but it’s a movie about brothers, violence and a kickass Pearl jam song.

Russell Baze works a dead-end job at the local steel mill, as his terminally ill father did before him.  When Russell’s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so – with nothing left to lose – Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother. Sometimes your battles choose you.

As far as trailers go, I dig this one quite a bit. Just enough exposition, some great action shots and the cast clearly flexing their talents, which should make for one great film. Out of The Furnace gets into a pit fight in November, and stars Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, and Sam Shepard.

  1. Good cast, but it’s not really grabbing me yet. The song makes it feel a bit melancholy…

Song is called Release from the early 90’s Pearl Jam album, Ten. Must have listened to that album from start to finish over a hundred times.

Eddie Vedder is actually doing the film’s entire score, which is why that song was chosen for the trailer.
