Holy crap, Disney still wants to make movies that are guaranteed box office hits? Outrageous! Yep, Disney is going ahead with a fifth film that will no dount star Johnny Depp as the infamous Jack Sparrow, a buccaneer with a devil may care attitude and bad breath that could kill a donkey on the poop deck.
Of course, they’re going to need a director for their next film, and they’ve found not one, but two of them to helm it and set sail.
Deadline has reported that the fifth film of yo ho ho and a bottle of rum will be directed by the Kon-Tiki pairing of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, a duo who also directed Max Manus: Man of War and Bandidas. Jeff “Ctach me if you can” Nathanson is working on the screenplay for the film which is set to begin filming next year January, in order to make a release date of July 15, 2015.
It makes sense for Disney to continue with the franchise. The Pirates films have made hundreds of millions of dollars in cash already, with the fourth film, On Stranger Tides, cashing in at over a $1 billion. A pirates box office life for me, yes please!
