Stop the presses! Lily Collins is no longer playing Ash in The Evil Dead remake. World Peace also a distinct possibility now.

A few weeks back we brought you the soul destroying news that Lily Collins, the model/actress daughter of musician Phil Collins, had been cast as Ash in the remake of cult classic Evil Dead. There was much gnashing of teeth and pulling out of hair. Plagues were visited upon man. These were the Dark Times, as people raged against the thought that this dainty little pop-princess would somehow replace the iconic symbol of bloodshed and coolness that was Bruce Campbell’s original Ash.

But now the dark clouds have parted and like a ray of life-giving light from the heavens, a tweet from Variety’s Jeff Sneider has appeared:

@TheInSneider: Again, in case you missed it, LILY COLLINS is OUT of THE EVIL DEAD reboot due to a scheduling issue. Agents, start your engines…

Yes OK, so it was due to a scheduling issue and not actually due to the filmmakers regaining their senses and getting rid of her, but I’m not picky when it comes to how I take my salvation, thank you very much. Of course, they may just send us into the Second Dark Age of Misery by casting somebody else just as, if not more, inappropriate for the role (pleasenotlindsaylohanpleasenotlindsaylohan), but I’m hopeful that this may just give them the opportunity to listen to the public outcry now and respond accordingly.

And to all you atheists/agnostics out there: Suck it. There is a God. And he’s a Bruce Campbell fan.

Thank crap for that. It seemed like woefully misjudged casting.

I’ll admit that she is kinda hot though, even if she does have eyebrows like Hansie Cronje
