The ANT-MAN shortlist is down to two actors

Out of all the upcoming Marvel films, I think Ant-Man is the flick that I’m genuinely excited for. It’s got an under-appreciated hero in the form of the amazing Ant-Man and a great director on board, the one and only Edgar Wright. What the film doesn’t have though, is a lead sctor. Expect that to be sorted soon, as the shortlist for that film has narrowed down the choices to play the future avenger to two possible leads.

Ant man actors

According to Variety, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd are at the top of the list when it comes to donning the Ant-Man helmet. It’s two solid choices for the scientist-superhero-adventurer, but I’m leaning more towards Paul Rudd right now for the role.

Don’t get me wrong, I dig JGL as an actor, but Rudd brings an everyman quality to the role, which I believe that Ant-Man needs. That, and I really hate typing out the names of three-name actors. A choice between the two will most likely be made this week, so that filming can get under way in order to make the 2015 release date.

I think Paul Rudd is too comedy-orientated to pull this off, I won’t be albe to take him seriously. Has Paul Rudd ever done an action movie, come to think of it? Jason would be my first choice out of these two actors.

I think Paul Rudd is better for the role because of who Ant-Man is. I can see him playing the super genius yet easily distracted and chemically unbalanced man that is Henry Pym. My only concern is that I can’t see Paul Rudd going all mental and being the Yellow-Jacket side, which I’m sure they would want to play with in the future in the MCU.

Never liked Henry Pym, hes always lacked the conviction of the others.
always felt he was a much weaker character, and Joseph Gordon Levitt is too solid to play a weaker hero, Paul Rudd fits the role better, hes much softer, even though I think Joseph Gordon Levitt is better.

I can totally see JGL playing the reluctant hero. Thinking back on 3rd Rock from the Sun, there were quite a few quirks he played out that would fit into Ant-Man. Plus I do not know this other guy at all.

I’d prefer Paul Rudd. I’m not worried about him coming from a comedic background. People couldn’t understand how the goofy bartender from Cheers was cast in Natural Born Killers, and look how that turned out.

Oh come on, as much as I like JGL, he can’t be Robin AND Hank! Greedy much? 😉

I’d say JGL, BUT, he was in TDKR. So I dunno.

Although Torch and Cap’n Rogers is the same person, I’d never think back to Torch.

I was expecting him at some stage to scream, FLAME ON!

They can’t use JGL. I want him to play Dr. Strange.
