I have really not been all that excited to see Sacha Baron-Cohen’s latest farcical comedy, The Dictator. Well, until now that is.
After indicating that he would be showing up for tonight’s Oscars in character as Admiral General Aladeen, the Academy responded by banning him. What, no love from the Academy for militant Islamic dictators, even fictitious ones? That’s about as surprising as Roseanne Barr going back for seconds at the buffet table.
As expected, Aladeen took to the internet to issue a response. Not only is the response hilarious, but weirdly enough, it actually worked!
To quote that most erudite of funny men, Larry the Cable Guy: “I don’t care who ya are, that’s funny right there.”
Then a short while after the video was released, Aladeen tweeted the following photo and message:
VICTORY IS OURS! Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea. What I am trying to say here is that the Academy have surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass! TODAY OSCAR, TOMORROW OBAMA!
Well, played Hashim Amla Aladeen. Well played.
