The worst of the worst: Nominees for the Golden Raspberries have been announced

The Golden Raspberries, more commonly known as The Razzies, have become an annual tradition since an LA publicist and his friends first threw an impromptu awards ceremony in 1981 to specifically “celebrate” the dumbest, laziest and all-round worst films that Hollywood shat out onto moviegoers the previous year.

The Razzies – also known as the Anti-Oscars – are a tongue in cheek affair and several winners, including Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry and Paul Verhoeven, have actually pitched up at past ceremonies to accept their $5 spray-painted trophy in person.

The nominations for this year’s awards, the 32nd Annual Razzies, were announced at a press conference last night, Saturday, 25 February (AKA Oscar Eve) – and there was plenty of “love” for Adam Sandler’s latest, the critically reviled identical twins comedy Jack and Jill. In fact, with 11 nominations this year (and there are only 10 categories, for the record), Sandler has set a new record for “Worst in Film.” And yup, he wrote and appeared in Bucky Larson, that other spectacular 2011 Turkey, as well.

You can view the full list of nominees below. For the record, winners will be announced this year on April Fools’ Day, 1 April.
