If anything is to go by in this first trailer for The Water Diviner we are in for an emotional ride albiet a rather sentimental looking one (I am reminded of Australia in a few of the scenes). The story is set in 1919 during the First World War and follows a father’s journey to find his missing; presumed dead, sons. To be honest the trailer had me at ‘Russell Crowe’, one of my favourite actors and as this is his début directing a  film I’ll give him some slack, I mean come on, has has an Oscar! Crowe plays Connor, a bereaved husband who tries to keep a promise made to his late wife. Joining him is the lovely Olga Kurylenko (November Manwho looks to fill the romantic ‘rebound’ role and why not, she’s stunning and can actually act! Have a look and see what you think, too soppy?

Not too shabby hey? Crowe and Kurylenko will be joined by Jai Courtney (Divergent) and Jacqueline McKenzie (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood). It’s releasing on December 26 so a nice Boxing Day movie.
