Ok, I’ll admit it. I dig anime. I enjoy seeing awkward situations being summed up in a gigantic tear drop. I dig seeing characters get so passionate, that they spontaneously combust. Over in the land of the rising sun, there are dozens of new anime shows getting ready to air. Here’s ten that happen to look particularly good.

Strike the Blood

VdKPfAD

Vampires, Japan and an apprentice shaman collide in a battle that should wipe the memory of Twilight from your mind.

Hajime No Ippo: Rising

hajime-no-ippo-rising

One of the best sports anime is making a comeback, as Hajime No Ippo returns for a third season. The young champ has his own challenges to face head-on, as he takes on new challengers who will push him to his limits. Fortunately, he has his asshole friends and mentors to back him up as he seeks to become the strongest boxer in the world, one step at a time.

Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon-X-and-Y-Anime-01

Yeah ok, I’m a Pokemon fan. STOP LAUGHING! That, and I think I have a crush on Jessie from Team Rocket. I just dig seeing how the new Pokemon designs are going to translate onto the small screen, when this new Pokemon series launches in conjunction with the X and Y games. POKEMON!

Coppelion

coppelion

Japan has been Hiroshimaed yet again, and Tokyo is more deserted than the office to apply for an E-Toll tag. Who ya gonna call to get valuable items and persons out of that irradiated hell-hole? Why, three lovely Japanese girls with the skills to survive and happen to have an immunity to that radiation, that’s who!

Voice Actor Voice Storm 7

voice actor

One of the zaniest entries on this list, Voice Actor Voice Storm 7 pays tribute to superstar voice actors, as a team of the best vocal thespians in the world help protect the Earth with their mighty acting powers…I need more beer.

Samurai Flamenco

Looks like Japan is making their own Kick-Ass, as Samurai Flamenco charts the misadventures of a young man who decides to become a superhero, despite the fact that he posseses no powers or any technological prowess. Wacky hijinks ensue.

Kill La Kill

Easily my favourite on this list, Kill La Kill is anime from the same team behind cult classic Gurren Lagaan, as they tackle the magical schoolgirl genre. And by tackle, I mean trip the light fantastic and go all out with insane visuals, ideas and jokes…yet again.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic

A 1001 Arabian tales meets Japanimation, as Aladdin takes a tour of Arabia that sees him team up with Alibaba to tackle all manner of quests, adventures and conspiracies.

Bottom Biting Bug

l5Grxfk

The second season of the adventures of a young bug in biting school continues, as he seeks to become the best bottom biter so that he can inherit his family biting shop business and I cannot believe that I just typed this sentence.

Koroshiya-San: The hired gun

What happens when the best killer in all of Japan decides to apply his perfectionist ethos to menial tasks such as house-cleaning and school workd? Hell if I know, but it sounds like a pretty decent premise anyway.

And of course the only thing blocked on my work internet are the trailers for Kill la Kill and Magi.

Kill la Kill is from the people behind Gurren Lagaan? Where and when can I get the blu-ray?
    Koroshiya-san looks incredibly interesting.
A friend mentioned Samurai Flamenco, but the trailer doesn’t really tell you anything about it.
I’m sure I’ve seen Magi before so I assume this is the season 2.
The manga for Strike the Blood is pretty good so I’ll try watch the anime.
I’m really looking forward to the new Hajime no Ippo.
As for the rest, not nearly as interesting.

All in all thanks for the news.
Now if only they’d announce Code Geass R3.

        LIES!

Lelouch still has to keep his side of the contract with CC, and if he did before the ending of R2 then… well then we have R3 coming.

            Yes, yes he did.
As did CC, VV and Charles zi Britannia, but that didn’t stop them for very long.
