UbisoftConference

Ubisoft’s E3 2010 presentation was filled with the weirdest assortment of vitality demonstrations and awkward presentations so it was with a whole pile of trepidation that we waited to see what Ubisoft would try and do this year.

The good news is that it wasn’t as WTF as last year but was it really any good, keep reading and find out.

Ubisoft starting up with Yves Guillemot striding onto stage to do the formal beginning and chat about how Ubisoft has been around for 25 years now, honestly they’ve come a long way in 25 years haven’t they.

RaymanOrigins

Then they get straight into the games with Michael Ancel goofing off and showing everyone Rayman Origins. Rayman Origins is looking really good by going back to old school design with beautiful colours, awesome music and flowing gameplay.

It also features what looks to be an incredible 4 player co-op experience as they bound through jungles, snow and even through the sky. Showing off their full range for this demo.

It’s hard to explain Raymans so rather take a break and watch this video taken by IGN

Up next Ubisoft demoed a retro lookback at Driver before moving onto Driver: San Francisco which is looking awesome but we know that already and for a more indepth look at driver then take a look at the preview Geoff published a little while back.

After that awesome trailer we moved onto one of the surprises of the conference with some awesome jungle views before blowing straight into Far Cry 3 which is going to be set on a paradise island this time round but don’t worry it’s still going to be action packed and the leader of the mercenaries looks to be a complete nut job which is awesome..

And not to mention the massive fire effects that have become a true Far Cry staple now.

The trailer opens up with said crazy man trying to drown you and asking you what the definition of insanity is, queue a QTE under water to get loose from your bonds and swim up. You then need to fight your way through the jungle taking on insurmountable odds before mounting a helicopter to freedom, only to be shot down and to wake up once again facing the same insane leader asking you the same question again.

The game is looking absolutely fantastic and the trailer really does the game justice. This is now high on my lists of must have.

Furious4

Next up Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford arrives on stage, this man is really getting around at the moment, Randy then goes on to announce the upcoming Brothers in Arms: The Furious Four.

Unsurprisingly it’s going to be set in the World War 2 era, the trailer brings back memories of Inglorious Basterds with a full range of overly brutal ways to kill the ever evil Nazi’s.

It’s looking very well put together but I honestly am totally over WW2 so it’s going to have to do something pretty incredible to really get me excited.

Up next we have another movie tie in with Tin Tin which is tying up with Peter Jackson’s upcoming movie. I’ve never been a Tin Tin fan at all and this game doesn’t look like it’s going to change my mind.

If you’re a big Tin Tin fan then keep an eye out as Ian will have some hands on impressions of Tin Tin in the coming week.
