360 Pros to start shipping with HDMI soon..

Well, we’re pretty much a week away from the launch of the new Elites here in SA but I don’t think it’ll be all that frenzied with the news of the Pro also sporting an HDMI port.

So when are we gonna see these new HDMI-enabled-Pro puppies on our shelves?

According to T3 in the UK, the new Pros will be hitting shelves in the UK within the next 7 days.

So, (hopefully) the same thing will be happening in SA and new stock will start filtering through to the shops. Keep your eyes peeled people and if you spot one post it here.

Mike sorry but since this is a soft launch we have no specific dates or anything… They are already out overseas. I’ll let you know as soon as I see one in the wild so to speak 😉

Okay…so someone remind me again, why exactly are we excited about the elite, again? I mean, firstly, component works pretty well so HDMI won’t necessarily be such a big step up. Also, all that additional money (in excess of what, R1000 over the Pro?) is going to an extra 100gb of space, when the PS3 allows you to install third party drives if you think your harddrive is too small. I think the pro pack does the job sufficiently as is…

It all boils down to CHOICE. I wouldnt mind the black finish on the Elite myself.

Pills, if MS phase out the Core then MS need a “high-end” and “low-end” SKU and I think the Elite’s gonna assume the “high-end” position. And Ruslan’s right, it’s your choice what you wanna buy, but the Elite does look pretty sexy in black. 🙂

My Main reason for getting the elite, is the DVD drive, apparantly they’re coming with the Benq Drive which is supposed to be quiter and faster, also I think the elites come without that manufacturers fault 😉 seeing as my machine is an Aus model from launch… I’m just waiting for the lights to go out… :S

Aren’t the Elite supposed to come with the 65nm chips as well? Or is that for the 2008 models? I just wish they could bundle the Elite’s HDD with all the latest 3 month demos for us poor SA bandwidth limited folks…

Well if they give us proper Live in SA then hopefully the marketplace content will actually be hosted inside SA so those el cheapo 30GB can be put to good use.

I’m hoping to get an HDMI Pro simply because it should have the uprated cooling as well as the Benq dvd drive. I really hope these reach our shores soon.

Yep, once the HDMI Pro’s hit the local shelves, my 360 will certainly RROD and I swap out for a HDMi Pro… or should one rather wait for the 65nm “falcon” 360?
