Shadow of mordor combat

Shadow of Mordor is being released soon. It’s one of my most anticipated RPGs for the year and I can’t wait to get my hands on it to see if it lives up to expectations. In the last few days they released a whole bunch of videos to show off the game and how it was made.

First up, we have the official TV commercial:

Next up is a behind the scenes series to show how the game was made. In the first part, it explores all the general things about making a AAA title based on Tolkien’s lore. It highlights how the gameplay is different each time and even the creators of the game are seeing new things each time they play through the game.

The second video looks at the various challenges to the different disciplines – it’s not just about making the game pretty, but also about the AI, animation and optimization. The focus has been on making the game not just innovative, but fully immersive for players on new generation hardware.

The third video focuses solely on the Nemesis System, one of the most impressive parts of the game. The enemies were approached in a similar way to the open world – it’s all about freedom with your actions having a specific impact on the game. It certainly is innovative; it’s what makes Shadow of Mordor a must play for me.

Video four looks at the E3 experience for the team. It also proves that WB doesn’t love me as much as Ubisoft – I’m not in this video playing the game. However, one of the speakers talked about people who planned on playing for 15 minutes and ended up playing for an hour or more. That was definitely me.

Getting Close is the title of the fifth video all about crunch time for the team. It’s all about the testing to check progression and bugs and ensure the game is as top of the line as possible.

Episode six is a love letter to the fans and the soon-to-be fans. It’s all just to highlight that the game is highly anticipated, and it makes the developers so happy to see the fan reactions.

With the game only a few weeks away from launch, here’s hoping that all the bugs are gone, the open-world is actually open and living and breathing, and the nemesis system is as impressive as it seemed. I have high hopes for the game; I just hope that doesn’t mean that my expectations have been set too high for them to deliver.

I was excited for this before I watched game play videos. I hate that assassins creedy type fighting. Also nemesis is so over hyped.

LOTR Conquest was also fun. Especially co-op/split screen.

The combat is much more like the Batman series. It’s really fun!

“here’s hoping that all the bugs are gone” was said about every game since the majority of gamers went online and companies realized they can get away with releasing broken games and patching them later. I just know there will be server issues as well. Yes we have Betas in place for certain games but clearly this does not help alleviate the problems we have for day one releases.

But being the tool I am I will pick this up day one

No matter how tempting it is I can’t allow myself to buy day one anymore. Besides the butt-hurt of having to download bigger updates than the frikkin’ game itself (just to get the experience I paid for) there’s so many games coming out it’s impossible for me to start a new experience with so many unfinished ones crying for my attention…
Plus you know what they say, tool me once.

That being said, this one looks like you might just have a winning bet.

Agreed, at least it has SP so the servers can burn for all I care.

I would have liked to try this game out. But because of DRM I will have to wait till it’s like $5 to maybe try it out.

I did not know about WBPlay. All these publishers catering for the digital and DRM crowds but no love for us, No DRM people.

I’ve learnt to embrace steam, I see it more of a service than a DRM, I mean my games stay up to date, I love achievements and the social aspect and cheap game

I know some will say you don’t own it but it’s how the game industry has shaped itself, I used to hate steam when I had like 500mb cap now I’ve learnt the joys of it.

Yes I’m sure that PC gamers who hav computers and no internet sure do love Steam because them can’t play the games.

Sadly I know that feeling still, atm I feel that with Asphalt Overdrive which is extremely data hungry and just wish it was offline, but with steam I don’t need to be online if I feel like playing Skyrim I’ll play it in offline mode and some games that require internet for achievements I start it up then get in game and the kill the connection and play happily.

Steam Downloads are the only real annoying thing since I haven’t got so much data to download GB’s.

WBPlay is just a service like the Rockstar Club thing, where you give them an e-mail and you get a free item, skin or something.
