Remember John Rambo? That soft-spoken Vietnam War veteran who practically invented the idea of a kill-streak, minus the perks, is now reported to be in development, making this the first Rambo game to appear since 1990.

UK Publisher Reef Entertainment has picked up the rights to the iconic action film franchise, with previous titles from the company being the Wii games Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre. Reef Entertainment is planning to develop the new Rambo game for console and PC markets.

“I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands,” says Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon.

Rezon has confirmed that the studio is aiming to "capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful”.

So long as I get to earn an achievement for blowing up an entire military base while piloting a Russian chopper, or shoot exploding arrows into Vietcong soldiers who can barely shoot straight, this sounds like a great idea so far.
