A really bad MGO video

I mentioned yesterday that I was suprised by the lack of news coming out of the MGO beta, well someone with a dodgy cellphone has answered my query.

Behold, the only gameplay video of Metal Gear Online that I can find.

Now I was mistaken about how the beta worked which was bad on my side, so I really have tried to find better video’s and details about the actual gameplay but so far this is all I have found.

And, to be honest… it looks absolutely awful…. The graphics look okay enough but the gameplay is horrendous… I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt though and put it down to the annoying commentator and shaky phone camera..

Someone please put me out of my misery and point me to a better video…

Okay here is the official teaser trailer. It’s obviously just not my type of game. I can’t see a single reason to take this over COD4. MGS has a distinct single player campaign that I just don’t feel makes the move to multi-player very well.

This is the official one that came with the Beta:

Apparently, it’s a fairly slow and complex game that is not going to be to everyone’s taste. I’ll wait and see for myself this weekend, if the Beta actually happens.

2ndly… MGS is a tactical game, its not a first person shooter. It’s not trying to compete with COD. Thats like comparing World of Warcraft and Halo.

It was made for the people that can’t get enough of MGS and I assure you there are quite a few of those people.

Yes I realise it’s a tactical game, but tactical games don’t move well into online multi-player since there will always be someone like me who runs and guns.

Also the box trick is cute for single player but it isn’t going to fool anyone in multi-player, neither will a nudey magazine.

I just don’t think the gameplay moves over….

Sorry I don’t know what happened… I had another video embedded that showed a person not being tactical and just running and shooting…

I think I should just stop posting about this game as I keep getting things horribly wrong…

I have added a new video now as I can’t find the original one

Erm….. Is it just one magazine? or do they update them monthly? 😳 might work.

Apparently there will be a few boxes scattered around, so you cant go around shooting any box on site as that would compromise your position. If done well, the gameplay can be really intricate with this one – hope they can pull off the stealth feel with the multiplayer portion.

The gameplay vid looks like run and gun to me, nothing tactical going on there.

I think the box and mag are actually just there for the novelty. I’m sure they know its not going to fool anyone.

So what’s the draw of MGO that isn’t in CoD4 or BF or SOCOM?

Is this the perspective of the game or is it going to be FPS or over the shoulder shooter.
